The PUNGANURUTown) was constituted into a municipality in the year 1985 as 3RD grade municipality under AP Municipalities Act 1965/ AP Municipal Corporation Act 1955 and at present it is in the status of 3RD Grade It is Taluk headquarters of C H I T T O O R District. The main economic activity of the PUNGANURU Town is Tamarind, Paddy, Milch Animals, Tomato etc.,
