INTRODUCTION:
Gadwal Town is an ancient town and it is a famous samsthanam in the erst while Hyderabad state, even known outside frontiers. There is a big fort with 21 – bastions constructed by Somanadri and it is reminiscent of the Chanikya art. The Gadwal Town was constituted as 3rd grade Municipality in the year 1950 at Present the Town Population as per House Listing operation of census 2001 is 53,601 with 26587 Males and 27014 Females. There are 10243 households residing in this town. The extent area of town is 6.14SqKms. This Town is located @ 16-14’ North latitude and 77-38’ east longitude in Mahaboobnagar District. This town is having 9 Revenue Wards and 26 Election Wards. The Town is situated on the Secunderabad, Banglore Railway line at a distance of 188Km away from Hyderabad and 74KM away from the District Head Quarter namely Mahaboobnagar. It is Mandal and divisional head Quarter and it is a second biggest Town in the district with a distance of 16KM away from the National Highway NO.7. The River Krishna is flowing at about 5KM away on the north side of the Town. There is an Agriculture Market Yard and Cattle. Market Helping the riots to market their Products and cattle profitably. The Handloom is an important industry of Gadwal Town. Beedi making another important cottage industry in the Town. Gadwal handloom sarees are noted for their exquisite silk and “Jari” work and command a good market through out India. There is one Devamma Government Arts & Science College which is famous in the district for Education Center. One P.G.Center with M.C.A. has been Established.
There are 20 Poor Settlements notified in this Town. The Town is fast growing due to coming up of Priyadharshinin Jurala Project. Many new Colonies have come up I and around the Town. Due to migration Raghavendra Colony, Colony near water Tank, Ganjipet new Colony, Revenue Colony, Radhakrishna Colony, Venkateswara Colony, Teachers Colony, Police Quarters, Nallakunta new colony, Lingambagh Colony, Douder pally road colony, Nayee Brahman Colony and Beedi Workers Colony etc., the present amenities provided in this colonies are in sufficient to meet the demands. Due to coming up of the new colonies the sullage water and rain water stagnating at one place resulting in cesspools and mosquito breeding centers. At present this town is having only open drainage system and there is not underground drainage system in this town. At present Underground drainage system is proposed under UIDSSMT with an estimate of cost of Rs.14.69Crores. The Town is not provided with adequate number of collecting drains consequently the rain water and sullage water is stagnated at many places and giving scope for Unhygienic environment in the town.
As such there is a absolute need for the civic amenities such as formation of Master Plan roads to Bypass the Traffic. Construction of Storms water Drain, Development of park, construction of Mini stadium, vegetable Market, Meet Market and also electrification.
